Welcome
It's me, Carolin, your doula for birth and postpartum.
Nice to meet you!
As your personal birth assistant, I provide non-medical support to women and their partners during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Not, because my clients "need" a doula. No. But because they WANT a doula.

Surrounding yourself with the right people can be mission critical. Why?
Because it takes a team effort to successfully manage pregnancy, birth and postpartum season. Whom do YOU want on YOUR team?

Regardless of your selected birth location, I primarily service the residential areas of the Westshore of Lake Zurich (Zürich-Wollishofen, Rüschlikon, Thalwil, Oberrieden, Horgen, Wädenswil, Richterswil, Wollerau, Freienbach, Pfäffikon, Altendorf, Lachen).

Doula History
The term “doula” derives from modern Greek and means “woman caregiver”.

Nowadays, a doula is a non-medical professional that provides educational, emotional and physical support before, during and after birth.
Other terms are birth companion, labor coach, childbirth assistant.

M. Klaus and J. Kennell, two U.S. physician researchers conducted clinical trials on the medical outcomes of doula-attended births and discovered a “major reduction in length of labor, more than 50% drop in c-sections and a remarkable drop in mother’s need for pain medication.” [1]
A scientific 2017 study showed that continuous support during labor may improve outcomes for women and infants, including increased spontaneous vaginal birth, shorter duration of labor, and decreased caesarean birth, instrumental vaginal birth, use of any analgesia, use of regional analgesia, low five-minute Apgar score and negative feelings about childbirth experiences. [2]
In 1992, the first doula-training institute was founded: DONA (Doulas Of North America), later DONA International.
The Association Doula CH (www.doula.ch) was founded in 2006 und counts 262 members [3] nationwide.
